WHERE DO TYRANTS COME FROM?

In large part, it is biological….

The root of addiction is the dopamine response that comes from experiencing extreme pleasure. The pleasure center of the brain is stimulated, dopamine is produced, and the reaction is PRECISELY the same as taking heroine.

When a person with a tendency toward addition finds they can elicit the pleasure response over and over again, they become dependent upon it. They seek more frequent responses. With the frequency of response, comes a “tolerance”, so it takes more intense stimulation to get the desired response level.

This goes with every addiction; alcohol, drugs, sex, social acceptance, abusive behavior, risk taking, gambling, controlling others, etc. When a person gets his/her “high” from controlling other people, they seek out ways to do it more, and with larger groups.

Every homeowner’s association, soccer league, church committee, business etc., has the “little Napoleon” who wants everything his/her way. When they are in control, the power gives them a rise. Some seek it so much that they run for minor political office, which leads to higher levels of power and control. If you’ve ever served in local politics, you know the type.

If such a person is born into an influential family that can connect them with inordinate amounts of power and influence, run them through the ‘proper’ education, and run interference for them as they rise to the top, the addiction can grow immeasurably, and unchecked.

Any conservative, today can list a couple dozen of “little Hitlers” in our state and federal governments that are full-blown tyrants. The only thing holding them back is our constitution. And, that’s getting mighty ragged as these people use wipe their feet on it, as they march in and out of our halls of government. These addicts rule our nation.

What’s a citizenry to do? We can do the ONE THING that formed this nation in the first place, and elevated it to the high status we've enjoyed for 250 years:

“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”

Thomas Jefferson.
