We don't have the same lock in situation here as in Canada and people moving in with each other so they can afford the high costs is a temporary fix because eventually costs will be so high you will need to have a crew of people moving in with each other. Eventually no money available will stop their plan to destroy 90% of the current population.
We do not renew our mortgages. You sign up for a fixed rate or variable (variable rate is a dinosaur that no one uses) But once you sign up for a mortgage that is it. Now you can refinance if in the future the fixed rate goes down to the point that it is worth the cost of refinancing. Housing costs have always been much higher in Canada than the US. Back when Carter was President home mortgage rates went sky high (17-18%) and when they started to go back down many people refinanced because it made a lot of sense to spend the money. A friend of mine bought a house at 17% interest. When the rate went down to 9% he refinanced. Carter is a communist just like Biden and the very same thing that Carter did to the economy with his communist policies is the same thing Biden’s puppet masters are doing now in the US. But communal living is not the answer. We are a free people succumbing to things that will take away our freedom.
