I have heard from Dane Wiggington that all the alum and crap they are spraying ends up on the panels and impedes their performance requireing them to be cleaned which is of course difficult since they are usually way atop the buildings. Heavy nucleated snow also destroys the solar panels with its weight. Glad I never invested in them, they are a bit of a nightmare in terms of being highly un-recyclable and solar panels don't have a very long life span compared to a house.
